Singapore’s government is rolling out Phase Two of the Public Transport Voucher (PTV) scheme to help families cope with rising transport costs in 2025. Each qualified household can receive a $55 voucher that’s meant to keep bus and train fares manageable.
Who Is Eligible?
The scheme has expanded its reach. To qualify, a household must include at least one Singapore citizen and have a monthly income of 1,800orlessperperson,ajumpfromthepreviouscapof1,600. This new limit opens the door for about 60,000 more families to get help. Just a heads-up: families that got a voucher in Phase One can’t apply again in Phase Two. Every qualifying household will get one $55 voucher, good for any person in the family.
How to Apply
Applications start on January 14, 2025, and close on October 31, 2025. Singaporeans can choose from two simple ways to apply. The fast-track online option uses the Ministry of Transport website and lets tech-savvy users fill out the form in minutes with their Singpass. If online isn’t your choice, no problem—just head to your nearby community club or centre. Trained staff will help you fill out the application and answer any questions you have.
Receiving and Using Your Voucher
Once you’re approved, the $55 travel voucher shows up four to six weeks later. You’ll know it’s on the way by either a text or email linking to Singpass, or a letter sent straight to your home mailbox.
Using the voucher is quick. Just open the SimplyGo app, tap on the e-Voucher option, and top up your transport card. If you prefer, you can also go to a SimplyGo kiosk or service center. The app usually gives you the funds in $10 chunks.
Important Deadlines to Remember
You can still apply anytime until October 31, 2025, but the approved voucher needs to be used by March 31, 2026. It’s a good idea to apply and redeem as soon as you can so you get the full benefit now.
This quick program shows how Singapore is helping families deal with rising living costs. Since the aid goes to those who travel the most by bus and train, it keeps public transport affordable for everyone, no matter how much they earn.
